2011 was a huge running year for me!
I ran 7 races! That is 5 more than I ran in 2010! I tried to pick a favorite race, but it’s just not possible as each race means something different to me. Click here to see all the races I ran.
I also overcame two “injuries” that forced me to sideline my running for a short time. The first was due to wheezing which was later diagnosed as exercise induced asthma (I now use an inhaler before I workout) and the second was runner’s knee that was rectified with inner thigh exercises. As much as I detested both of these setbacks, they taught me a lot and have made me appreciate the ability to run even more.
I am currently registered for 3 races for 2012 and I am eyeing many more. My big race for 2012 is the Tough Mudder in April. You may have heard me mention that one a time or two. 😉 Without a doubt it is going to be the toughest race I have ever participated in! I am scared and excited for it all at the same time! I will also be throwing my name into the Nike Women’s Half Marathon lottery as part of a group of amazing women runners. I really hope we get in! If not, I figure I can always do the Detroit half instead. Either way I will definitely be completing another half marathon this year!
In lieu of making New Year’s resolutions, I have established 3 running goals that I would like to accomplish in 2012.
Goal #1 Complete the Tough Mudder. I do not have a time goal for this race, I just want to earn the orange head band. Sounds simple, right? Let me refresh your memory of the course I will be tackling. It is 12 miles with 27 obstacles. It is the first race I have ever had to purchase additional insurance for in order to register. And I’m not kidding. Click here to see the course for yourself!
Goal #2 PR the heck out of my 5k time. My current record for a 5k race is 32:42 and I know I can run much faster than that now! I am looking forward to crushing that time! I guess I should probably get a 5k race scheduled asap!
Goal #3 Complete another half marathon. I thoroughly enjoyed training for my first half marathon. And if luck is on my side, I will enjoy training for the Nike Women’s Half Marathon.
Not that you’ve learned about what I accomplished in 2011 and what my goals are for 2012, I want to hear about yours!
