This past weekend was a mix of ups and downs. Normally I work every weekend but I ended up having the whole weekend off. First, I’ll start with the upside of the weekend. Saturday was a planned day off as a swap for working on Labor Day. As sucky as it is to work on a holiday it is one of the fringe benefits of working in the hospitality industry. And since I don’t have my son on Friday nights or Saturdays during the day, having Saturday off meant that I could go out AND sleep in. This. Is. Huge.
Mr. Sarcastic and I went out for a few drinks Friday night. I may have had a few too many. But again I had Saturday off! At some point in the night I declared a song that was playing in the bar to be “our song” without even being aware of what song it was. Mr. Sarcastic and I joke around about how we will never have a song because of our completely different tastes in music.
I listen to songs like this.
And Mr. Sarcastic likes songs like this.
See the challenge?
It turns out the song I “picked” for us was Reason to Believe by Rod Stewart. Not exactly a great song to define our relationship. If you are not familiar with the song click here to read the lyrics and decide for yourself. I suggested that we will have to have two songs to satisfy the very different genres of music that we each listen to but Mr. Sarcastic vetoed that idea. Oh well, I think we will live without a song.
On Saturday I woke up to the smell of breakfast being cooked! My sweet loveable boyfriend made me a scrumptious breakfast and then we went back to sleep for a little longer. Why? Because we could!
Our relaxing Saturday was topped off with some shopping and this much needed purchase!
Is satisfies my need to be organized, handy and girly all at once. Watch out world there is no stopping me now!
The downside of the weekend was that Sunday ended up being a surprise day off because Little B developed horse sounding coughs mixed with breathing difficulties that led to a trip to the emergency room. Remember this post I wrote about his asthma update? Yeah, I was kicking myself for that decision. Sigh. After a chest x-ray and a couple of hours in the ER we were sent home with a diagnosis of croup. It can either be caused by a virus or allergies. Sure it could just be a coincidence that he came down with croup after a week of being off his allergy meds but either way we started them back up last night.
On Sunday Little B had long stretches of time where he seemed like his normal self and short bursts of times when he was not a happy camper. We did stop in at Mr. Sarcastic’s son’s birthday party to drop off the gift but didn’t stay long since Little B wasn’t really in a party and meet lots of new people kind of mood. However, we did stay long enough for Little B to become the proud owner of his own keyboard compliments of Mr. Sarcastic’s Dad. Little B loves it and Mr. Sarcastic’s Dad is now Little B’s new favorite person.
How was your weekend? What did you do?
