If all went well I crossed the finish line of the Nike Women’s Half Marathon yesterday with a smile on my face and claimed the coveted blue Tiffany box with my finisher’s necklace. (From a tuxedo clad firefighter no less!) I am phrasing it that way because I am writing this post in advance of the race. Blogging while on vacation is a big no-no but so it not having a post. Lol
My plan for this week is to……not run. At all. I know, I know. Sounds crazy right? I love to run and would rather not take a break. But sometimes a break is what your body needs. Any my body is going to need at least a week off from running. I may even take two weeks off. I’m just going to wait and see and let my body tell me when it is time to put my running shoes back on. In the past, I didn’t listen to my body and I ended up being injured and had to take more time off from running than if I had to just given my body the rest that it needed. Lesson learned!
Just because I am taking a week or two off of running doesn’t mean that I won’t be working out. There are lots of other workouts that I enjoy doing and I am found of an active recovery period. This week I will not be doing anything high impact. I will be leaning more towards Pilates and weight workouts. Next week I will either add running back in or some other cardio depending on how I am feeling. I of course will also be doing a lot of stretching and foam rolling! That is a given.
And while I am recovering I will be putting together recaps of my San Fran trip and of the Nike Women’s Half Marathon. Stay tuned!
