It’s almost 2013 and if you are a planner like I am you probably already have your 2013 race schedule in place.
Here are the races that I am currently signed up for!
January: PoHo Hot Cocoa 8k - Signing up for this race was a no brainer! With my registration I get a Nike Element 1/2 zip and a post race chocolate party! Sweet, right?! And since I have never ran an 8k race before I am guaranteed a PR! I can’t wait for this!
February: Sandmine Challenge - One of my runner friends came across this race and asked if I would be interested in doing it with him. It is in Crystal City Missouri and get this….it is a 4 mile obstacle race underground in a sandmine! Sounds crazy, so of course I was interested. An added bonus is that I will get to have a weekend getaway to St. Louis, which is someplace I have never been!
March: Rock CF Rivers Half Marathon - I’ve been doing this race since it started two years ago. The first year I did the 5k and this year I did the half marathon. It is one of my favorite races because it is so organized and the course is super scenic. It doesn’t hurt that there are bagels from Panera Bread at the finish line too! In 2013 the race course will be slightly different as we will be running through the historic Naval Air Station hangar. Very cool!
April: Ohio Tough Mudder - It has been far too long since my first Tough Mudder! Can’t wait to add another orange headband to my collection.
May: Race free month? - Seems like a good month to take a break from racing but we’ll see.
June: Michigan Tough Mudder - One of my running goals for 2013 is to complete two Tough Mudders, so this will be the second one. This one will be extra special because most of my 2012 Tough Mudder teammates will be running it too! I love muddy reunions!
July: Warrior Dash - The Warrior Dash was my first mud run so this one will always be a must do for me. Plus it’s just a ton of fun!
August: North Country Run Half Marathon - This race had been on my bucket list for a while! It will be my first trail half marathon and at the completion of it I will be the proud owner of one of the largest half marathon medals! So excited about this race!
As of right now I do not have any races scheduled past August. I do have a couple that I am eyeing though. In September, the Warrior Dash will be bringing its Iron Warrior Dash to Michigan and I am tempted to give it a try. In many ways it is their answer to Tough Mudder and the Spartan races as it will be a 15-20 mile obstacle race. In October I would really like to do the Wicked Halloween Run, another race that has been on my bucket list.
What races do you have planned for 2013?

@WarriorBetsy Filled out my calendar yesterday. Its full of rides, runs, and triathlons.
My 2013 race schedule! What’s on yours? http://www.theeverydaywarrior.com/2012/12/28/2013-race-schedule/
Half marathons thru April, maybe smaller races in the summer..then a full in October!
Sounds awesome!
WOah! You’ve got lots lined up! Get it!
Go big or go home, right?
I can’t wait to do Michigan tough Mudder! It will be nice to have the team back together again!
Yes!!!
@WarriorBetsy I noticed there was nothing in october yet…….did your friend convince you to take the leap to the big one yet?!
I am loving reading everyone’s running goals for next year – planning is just TOO much fun!
My big race next year is Ironman, but I have several running races on the list. I’m doing a local running series so the next few months include a 10K and half marathon – mostly as training “races”.
Ironman?! How awesome!
My calendar is packed with races starting in April! I will be attempting my first marathons this 2013!
What a great goal!
Sounds like a busy year!! I love having lots of races on the calendars though, it keeps running and cross-training interesting!
I agree! I am more motivated to stay on track if I have a race coming up!
So far I only have the Bayshore Half Marathon and Tri Del Sol on the calendar. I’ll probably do the Martian 10k also.
All good ones!
Nice race schedule! I’ve loved doing Warrior Dashes they’re a ton of fun! The 8k is a funny distance, I did my first one last year and it’s that little bit of extra distance challenge that the 5k doesn’t have so you can’t all out sprint it, but you can still move fast and have fun. I have a 25K, two half marathons and Hood to Coast on my racing schedule already, looking forward to a good year of running!
Sounds like a great race schedule!
Awesome schedule. One suggestion: for September, check out The Hungerford Games (www.hungerfordgames.com) — sounds like it might be right up your alley! Wooden medals branded on-site are pretty unique.
Wow! That does sound awesome! Once my budget recoups from Christmas, I might have to sign up for the half!
Sadly I only have 1 race on my schedule for 2013 right now and it is the Boise 1/2 Ironman in June. I need to knuckle down and start finding at least 1 race a month.
That’s an awesome race to have on your schedule though!
If you do the Wicked Halloween run, you have to do go for the Kona Triple Crown! Run the races in March and June also, and get EXTRA bling!
Also.. there’s a Go Dirty Girl mud run in June.. just saying..
Oooooh! I had no idea about the Kona Triple Crown! I WANT!!!
See you at PoHo!
See you then! Should be fun!
I have registered for six races so far with a whole bunch more on my list. I’m starting the year off with a 10K in Lowell, MA. It’s supposed to be about 20 degrees, before the wind chill is taken into account!
Happy New Year!
Brrrr! Happy New Year to you too!
