This post was made possible by the Verizon Health and Fitness Voices program. As a participant of the program I have been provided with a wireless device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product. I was also invited to Chicago to kick off the program which included a hotel stay, travel expenses and an entry into the Shamrock Shuffle 8k. Click here for more info on the program.
Chris and I headed into Chicago very early on Saturday morning so that we could spend some time sight-seeing and exploring the city. We both have been to Chicago once before but it was many many years ago for Chris and when I came it was for work so I didn’t get to see any of the city.
After we found the parking garage that my car would call home for the weekend we headed to Shedd Aquarium. Since we enjoyed the CityPASS so much when we were in San Francisco we got one for Chicago as well and all the sight-seeing we had planned was included with the CityPASS! Another perk of the CityPASS is that we didn’t have to wait in the long lines at each attraction.
I absolutely LOVED the aquarium. Every part of it! We also got there early enough that there wasn’t a ton of people there but when we left it was getting crazy busy. Here are some highlights from the aquarium.
Next up was The Field Museum. There was lots to look at if you are into museumy type things. We were in and out pretty quickly but it was still an enjoyable experienced. Here were our favorite parts.
After the museum we headed over to the Hard Rock Hotel to get our things settled in our room!
Next we headed to Navy Pier to pick up my race packet and we had some fun along the way!
Luckily for us we were on foot and not in this traffic! Eesh!
Next stop was food!!!! Sight seeing makes me hungry and when I am hungry I am CRANKY!
After dinner we challenged my fear of heights by going to the top of both the Jon Hancock building and the Willis Tower.
Our first day in Chicago was a blast. Come back tomorrow to find out what we did on day #2! 🙂
