This post was made possible by the Verizon Health and Fitness Voices program. As a participant of the program I have been provided with a wireless device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product. I was also invited to Chicago to kick off the program which included a hotel stay, travel expenses and an entry into the Shamrock Shuffle 8k. Click here for more info on the program.
I know most of you come to my blog for health and fitness related items but this is such an important message that I felt it needed to be shared. Verizon has partnered with other wireless carriers to launch a program called It Can Wait. It is a program that could save many lives if we all join together and spread the word! The premise of the program is simple, take the pledge to never text and drive. I know that most of us have good intentions of not using our phones while driving but perhaps on occasion we do anyways. I will admit that I am one of those people. Even though I know that I shouldn’t, I will sometimes read or respond to a text while driving.
Here are some startling statistics about texting and driving that have convinced me to take the pledge.
I don’t know about all of you but that information is an eye opener! I have a lot to live for and no text is worth putting my life in danger! Are you ready to join me in this important movement and take the pledge to never text and drive? Click here to do so and make sure you spread the word!
And just in case you need a little help in making sure you hold true to the pledge, download the free save driving app called Safely Go. This app can be set to answer your calls and texts while you are behind the wheel and help you drive distraction free!
After you take the pledge leave a comment below letting me know that you have joined me and also let me know what made you decide to take the pledge!
