This post was made possible by the Verizon Health and Fitness Voices program. As a participant of the program I have been provided with a wireless device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product. I was also invited to Chicago to kick off the program which included a hotel stay, travel expenses and an entry into the Shamrock Shuffle 8k. Click here for more info on the program.
Last week I drove to the Lansing area to meet up with some Twitter friends for the first time in real life!
Aren’t we an awesome looking group?! Before I get to the details on the Tweetup, I have to admit that I was afraid that I wasn’t going to make it there. I made the mistake of forgetting my GPS as home (I am very directionally challenged) and I relied on MapQuest to get me to the park we were all meeting at. MapQuest failed me and I just kept driving in circles. I finally pulled out my DROID RAZR HD and used the VZ Navigator, which led me directly to the park! Thank goodness!
Ok, back to the meet up. If you are not following these awesome run tweeps on Twitter, you should be!
On the right hand side of the pic is Lani with her son (he is a cutie!). She is the reason the tweet up even happened! You can follow her on Twitter by clicking HERE. She is a soldier, wife, mom, runner and many more things! She is taking on the Dopey Challenge next year!
On the left side of the pic is Bari! You can follow Bari on Twitter by clicking HERE! Bari completed a Sprint Tri the weekend before the meet up and has run all sorts of different races. She has a great blog that you can find by clicking HERE as well.
And the only guy in the group is Mike! Unbeknownst to me, Mike lives about a mile from me so we are hoping to go for some runs in the near future. You may also know Mike as the guy who co-founded #PlankADay on Twitter. Not familiar with #PlankADay? It is simple really, every day you plank and then tweet about it using the #PlankADay hashtag. If you aren’t consistent in your #PlankADay tweets you may get the Plank Police after you! To follow Mike on Twitter, click HERE.
So what did we do at the tweet up? We talked about running, of course! And we planked! It was a lot of fun!
Have you met any of your Twitter friends in real life? Who on Twitter do you really want to meet?
