This post was made possible by the Verizon Health and Fitness Voices program. As a participant of the program I have been provided with two wireless devices and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the products. I was also invited to Chicago to kick off the program which included a hotel stay, travel expenses and an entry into the Shamrock Shuffle 8k. Click here for more info on the program.
This past weekend Chris and I did something crazy.
We decided to combine a race weekend with our first family vacation! That’s right, Chris myself, B (I am just calling him B since he really isn’t all that little anymore), and Chris’s two boys bravely went on our first adventure all together! And lucky for you, I had my DROID RAZR HD with me to capture some of the fun moments along the way. All pics in this post were taken with my DROID!
Our first stop of the weekend was Frankenmuth. For those of you who live in Michigan you may find it odd that I had never been there before. For those of you who don’t live in Michigan, Frankenmuth is a Bavarian themed town which is known for its chicken and a giant Christmas store called Bronner’s.
Bronner’s was very cool. It had every Christmas decoration and ornament that you could possibly imagine and even ones that you couldn’t have dreamed up. B’s favorite part was talking on the Santa hotline as it is never too early to start your wish list!
Something that resonated with me the most in Bronner’s was found in an unexpected place….the bathroom!
I really love that quote.
Before leaving Frankenmuth we had dinner. I am sure you would guess it was chicken but you would be wrong! Turns out the chicken dinner is $20 a person and quite frankly I can’t imagine that any chicken is worth that so we happily scarfed down some pizza instead.
The next day was race day but we will talk more about that on a later post. After the race we spent the rest of the day in Ludington. We played at the park, spent some time at the beach and ate at a little local restaurant.
The last day of our adventure brought us to Michigan’s Adventure. For those who are not familiar, it is an amusement park and water park all in one. The weather was perfect and the kids could not have been more excited about being there. Chris and I got to spend time with our kids separately that day as B is not tall enough to go on the same rides that his kids could go on. I think it was nice after all the together time to have some time apart and then we met up sporadically throughout the day. (Thanks to my DROID RAZR I was able to figure out where Chris and his boys were very quickly by text message!)
Here are some highlights from Michigan’s Adventure!
Overall I think our first trip as a five-some went rather well. There were definitely some moments along the way that weren’t perfect but that is to be expected especially with all the different ages, personalities and activities involved. It was also a great way to wrap up the Summer as school will be starting up very soon!
How are you wrapping up your Summer? Did you take any fun trips?
