It has been no secret that I have been off track lately in terms of health and fitness. Because of that I thought it would be fun to get back on track by hosting a DietBet.
What is a DietBet you ask? A DietBet is a way that you can join a group of people who are working towards the same goal. In this case, I decided to start a DietBet that involves losing 4% of my weight in four weeks. If you decide to join, you would try to do the same. That is obviously the “diet” part of the group.
The “bet” part is that you bet a pre-determined amount of money to the goal. In the DietBet that I created I set the bet amount at $10.00 so that it is affordable for most anyone. At the end of the game, whoever loses 4% of their weight, gets to split the pot evenly amongst all who met the goal!
During the four weeks you will also get camaraderie and encouragement from the other members of the group which is very helpful for any goal you are trying to achieve.
If you are like the bf you may be thinking, “Won’t people cheat?” DietBet has a system in place involving pictures and other things that ensure cheating does not happen. However, if you are like me, you know most people wouldn’t try to cheat anyways and that if they did they would only be cheating themselves.
I have decided to sweeten this deal by offering up an additional prize!
At the end of the DietBet I will randomly select a participant who will receive the Special Edition Meb Keflezighi 2GB Sony Walkman MP3 Player. It is valued at $69.99! It was given to me a while back ago and I already have an iPod so I figured why not give it away!
My DietBet aka Warriors for Healthy Living starts on December 30th (I wanted to wait til after Christmas but start it before the new year) and you can join by clicking here. Feel free to invite anyone and everyone because more participants means a bigger pot!
As a side note I want to mention that not everyone needs to lose weight and weight is not a definitive measure of being healthy. In addition to that, you should never define your worth by your weight as you are so much more than any number on a scale or any size on a tag. With that being said, for those of you who are interested in losing a few pounds I hope you will join me in being a Warrior for Healthy Living!
