Before we get to my 2014 fitness goals, let’s look back at the ones I set for 2013 and see how I did on them! Ready, let’s go!
1. Complete two Tough Mudders.
2. Run my first trail half marathon.
I completed this goal at the North Country Run in August of 2013. It was a great race with a super sized medal. You can read my recap of the race here.
3. Volunteer at a race.
Mission accomplished! I had a great time being on the other side of the race experience. You can read all about it here and I highly recommend every runner to volunteer at least once.
Now it is time for my 2014 Fitness Goals!
1. Achieve the Spartan Trifecta!
I have never done a Spartan Race but next year I am taking a break from Tough Mudders to not only run my first Spartan Race but to also achieve the Trifecta which means I will be running three Spartan Races, one of each distance. That also means I will get a bonus medal in addition to the medal that I would earn from each race!
2. Do the Kona Grand Slam!
We have a great local running company called Kona who puts on some pretty fab races. I did the Kona Chocolate run last year and enjoyed it despite some issues. This year I will be running their St. Patrick’s Day Run, Kona Run, Wicked Halloween Run and the Chocolate Run so that I can earn the bonus Grand Slam medal. What can I say….I like shiny things. Especially shiny things that I can add to my medal rack.
3. Get bendy with it.
I am not very flexible anymore. I was never flexible to the point of doing splits but now I feel way more rigid than I used to be. Time to work on that.
4. Try something new!
Not sure what the new fitness thing is going to be but going outside of my norm can only be good for me!
