This post is made possible by Verizon. While I was not compensated in any way for this post, I did receive a demo Verizon Ellipsis that was returned to Verizon and as always, all opinions are my own.
I am pretty certain that no matter where you live, the term “Polar Vortex” has become part of your vocabulary. And I think we can all agree that we are more than ready for it to GO AWAY! (Sorry, I needed to let that out for a minute.)
If you are a runner, Winter may already be a difficult time to maintain your training and this Polar Vortex is certainly making it even more difficult.
Technically there are two options to maintaining your training plan during the Polar Vortex. For me there is only one, but there are crazy runners out there like this guy that made me list two.
Option One (aka the crazy option): Keep running outside dressed in a gazillion layers. Those who pick this option laugh in the face of zero degrees with a real feel of -25. They don’t care that they can’t feel their fingers, toes or countless other body parts. In my book they are badass beyond compare. But I say no thank you to that kind of running and if you are running outside in this PLEASE be safe. These are some dangerous temps people.
Option Two (the less crazy option): You all know what the other option is right? The treadmill, or dreadmill or happymill, hamster wheel or whatever term you refer to it as. I only say that it is less crazy than option one because the treadmill can be monotonous and boring. However, I think the solution to making treadmill runs more fun is using a tablet!
Thanks to Verizon I got to try out their Ellipsis tablet which is a great treadmill companion. While getting your miles in you can use it to watch Netflix, read a book on the Kindle app (I can’t read and run but some can), watch YouTube videos, stay up to date on Social Media, etc etc.
It certainly does make the miles go by faster and as an added perk all of your body parts should be warm and toasty! I also want to add that the Ellipsis is a great starter tablet and it available at a great price point as well!
What are you doing to survive this Polar Vortex?
