This past Saturday marked the first Idiots Running Club Skunk Run in Detroit!
We all met up a Lake St Clair Metropark and headed out on the bike path around the park. I had planned on doing a test run at the park a few days before the group run but that didn’t end up happening. (Thanks a lot Mother Nature.) Because of that we ended up running on icy patches, through 2 feet of snow and through muddy icy water. Honestly, I thought it was great because I am weird and twisted like that. The others may not have been as impressed as I was though …. 😉
After the initial loop as a group some of us headed over to the pavilion and some of us headed out for more miles.
Once everyone regrouped we got to down to the business of dishing out the awards!
First up was the award for who ran the least miles. And guess who it was? It was the bf!
Next was the most miles! This award went to the #PlankADay co-founder himself!
Naturally with the #plankaday co-founder as part of the group we ended the Skunk Run with a plank!
Despite the cold weather and not so perfect running paths, I think we all can say that we had a great time. We are thinking about planning some more groups runs once the weather gets warmer and trying out all the different running paths in the greater Detroit area!
We also raised some money for Coach Jeff to go towards his treatment for prostate cancer. Click here if you would like to contribute.
