Recently I stumbled upon this article in my FB feed. It caught my attention because 1) Who doesn’t like an article with WTF in the title? 2) I really had no idea what oil pulling was and I was curious.
After reading the article I was even more intrigued about oil pulling but I put it on the back burner as something I would look into later. Shortly after that, one of my favorite and most trusted bloggers, Carla, posted about oil pulling as well! You can read her post here.
So long story short, I have decided to give it a go and I ordered myself some coconut oil from Amazon.
I am sure you could get it locally but I am lazy and I have Amazon Prime.
I will update you all on what I think of it after I have spent some time doing the whole oil pulling thing but here is a summary of what I have learned about it from Carla, Erica and my internet searching.
- It is recommended that you use organic unrefined coconut oil.
- The goal is to swish 1-2 teaspoons of coconut oil in your mouth for 20 minutes everyday.
- You should NOT swallow the oil and you should NOT spit it out down a drain. I plan to just spit mine into the garbage. (Isn’t this fun talking about spit?)
- Some benefits that you and I may see from oil pulling include: whiter teeth, better skin, clear sinuses, and the removal of toxins from the body. There are a ton more benefits but I will let you read about them yourselves.
Keep in mind that I haven’t tried oil pulling as of yet so I can’t personally vouch for any of the items listed above. I am also not a medical professional. I am just someone who likes to blog about things that interest me and I share them with you in hopes that you will find them interesting as well.
Do you or have you tried oil pulling? What do you think about it?
Are you thinking about trying oil pulling? Who or why not?
