In case you are not familiar with Stitch Fix, let me bring you up to speed. Stitch Fix is a monthly subscription service (although you don’t have to get one every month, you pick how often) that sends you clothes and accessories based on a style profile that you fill out. You can keep what you like and send back what you don’t. There is a $20 styling fee but if you keep any of the items, the $20 fee is deducted from the total purchase price of the item(s) you keep. If you keep all 5 of the items from your fix you receive a 25% discount on EVERYTHING. Basically it is like playing dress up as an adult…..and it is both fun and addicting! Every month you can also leave a note for your stylist. So if you have an event that you need some clothes for or if you just have an idea of what kind of pieces you want to add to your wardrobe you can pass that information along!
This month I told my stylist Diana about being in between jobs and that I would like to continue doing Stitch Fix but that I would need to be more budget conscious. I also told her that I would prefer casual pieces versus work attire. Let’s see if she delivered on my requests!
Item #1: 41Hawthorn Queensland Dolman Jersey Top
This top is a wardrobe staple! It can be dressed up or dressed down and the deep plum color is beautiful! The jersey fabric is so soft and comfortable and the shape of the shirt is very figure flattering.
Item #2: Papermoon Shaniah Pleated Tunic
When I pulled this top out of the box I thought it was so cute! I love grey and yellow together and I loved all of the detailing on the front of the tunic. When I put it on I knew it was a keeper. I tried it on with a pair of black leggings and also a pair of dark jeans just as Diana suggested and it looked great with both!
Items #3: Kensie Keyona French Terry Dress
I wasn’t too sure about this dress when I pulled it out of the box. It didn’t look like something I would like but I decided to keep an open mind since that is part of the fun of Stitch Fix after all!
When I tried it on I am glad that Diana sent it to me. It is so comfy and cute and perfect for a casual day at home or out and about. I can wear it alone or with a pair of tights or leggings (and scarf) for a whole different look.
I honestly would have preferred a different color, something a bit brighter, but I didn’t want to part with it once I put it on. Super super comfy!
Item #4: Cambridge Metal Belt Cuff Bracelet
I love getting at least one accessory in my Stitch Fix boxes so I was excited to see this bracelet. I have seen this bracelet before as another blogger got one but I believe it was gold. When I saw the picture from the other blogger I wasn’t sure that I would like the bracelet but I absolutely liked it in person.
I am happy that I got the silver version as I am typically not a fan of gold jewelry. I also love that the cuff is adjustable because my wrists are pretty small and certain bracelets are just too big.
Item #5: Just Black Rogers Distressed Boyfriend Jean
As you saw from the note from Diana everyone is raving about these jeans so I was very excited to try them on. Boyfriend jeans are meant to be just like they sound. Like you are wearing a pair of your boyfriend’s jeans so they are to look slightly oversized.
They definitely felt oversized! I could even pull them off without unbuttoning them. I am not sure if they are supposed to be that big. Overall I wasn’t 100% sold on the boyfriend fit of the jeans but since I really loved the 4 other items, it was cheaper to keep all 5 items with the 25% discount than to just keep the 4. I am sure I can find a multitude of ways to wear these jeans!
Diana did a great job this month finding me some affordable casual pieces to add to my wardrobe. As much as I loved everything, I think I am going to ask for some colorful items next month to liven up my wardrobe and brigthen up these drab Michigan Winter days.
You may have noticed that I included pics of the style cards that I received for each item (minus the bracelet) as I have seen other bloggers include the style cards in their posts and I’ve enjoyed that. It’s fun to see the different ways that the stylist recommends that you wear what they sent you. I hope you enjoyed seeing them as well!
