I’ve seen these running questions floating around the blogosphere so I thought I would throw my two cents in and answer them as well. Who knows, maybe you have just been on the edge of your seat waiting for me to reveal my answers. 😉 The wait is over my friends.
1. What’s your favorite type of running shoe?
Depends on what I am running. For non OCR events I run in Altra running shoes and for OCR events I wear Inov-8. All of the shoes I run in regardless of brand are zero drop shoes.
2: Do you run to music?
I do. Not during OCR of course but for everything else. I like having a soundtrack for my runs.
3: Do you run in a gym or outdoors?
Depends on the season. I prefer to run outside but Winter tends to push me onto the treadmill more often than I like to admit.
4: Do you bring a sports drink or water out with you when you run?
I always run with water no matter what distance I am running. Sometimes I don’t even need the water but I just like knowing it is there just in case. I guess it is my security blanket.
5: How many miles can you run without breaking?
Define breaking. The longest distance I have covered was at the Spartan Beast in Ohio last year which was 14 miles. I felt pretty broken at the end but some day I will be back for a rematch.
6: Do you prefer long, mid or short distance running?
I perform better on longer distances but I just like to run so I’ll take short or long as long as I get to run.
7: How long have you been running?
On and off since high school but I started being more “serious” about it and entered my first race in 2010.
8: What do you think about when you run?
What don’t I think about? Running gives me a chance to sort through everything I have rattling around in my head. Most of the time I have it all sorted out by the time my run is done or I at least feel better about whatever it is that is on my mind.
9: Do you run when you’re emotional?
Sure. I’m an emotional personal as a general rule so I’ve ran through just about every kind of mood.
10: Have you noticed any changes in your life since you started running?
Definitely! Running has shown me how strong I am and that I am capable of accomplishing far greater things than I ever imagined!
11: Do you stretch?
You caught me. Yes, I do stretch.
12: Do you plan your day around your run or your run around your day?
Hmmm. I guess that depends on the day.
13: Do you run with someone else?
Not normally on training runs. It’s my me time although running with someone else can be fun.
14: What motivates you to run?
So many things but mostly I run because I am a better version of myself when I am running consistently.
15: Are you surprised with how well you run?
Surprised? I don’t know about that. I am proud of my accomplishments I have made through running though.
16: Do you run marathons/races/both?
Aren’t marathons races? I have not yet toed the line of a marathon yet but it may be looking good for 2016. We shall see.
17: What’s your best mile time?
I don’t keep track of that. I do keep track of my race times but I would have to look them up here as I don’t have them memorized.
18: Do you run to keep fit or keep fit to run?
19: Do you prefer to run in heat or in cold?
Heat! Remind me I said that when I am out running this Summer.
20: Is it hard for you to get out of the house to run?
Depends. It is definitely more difficult this time of the year when it is so cold outside and my bed is so warm.
21: Do you ever regret not running?
22: Do you keep a record of your running times?
Oooops, I already answered this question. See answer to #17.
23: Do you have a running idol?
Not so much. I am mostly inspired by everyday people that get out there and give it their best.
24: Does anyone else in your family run?
Define run. Chris (the bf) does run races with me but he has a unique training plan that doesn’t include any training runs. He sells his training plan on his blog here if you are interested.
25: Are you currently trying to become a better runner?
Every damn day.
26: Do you run when you have nothing else to do?
No. When I have nothing else to do I blog and answer crazy questions like these.
27: How often do you run?
My training plan is typically 3 days a week of running and 2 days of cross training.
28: What is your biggest running-related dream?
The marathon has been calling out to me for some time. I’m just trying to find the “right” one.
29: Will you run for the rest of your life or just until you become what you want?
I hope there never comes a day that I won’t be able to run.
30: What are your favorite exercises to team with running?
I like doing Insanity and Pilates on days I cross train.
Phew, that was a lot of questions and I was starting to get a bit snarky towards the end there. Now it is your turn to answer a few or 30 even.
