After three months of being unemployed, I am excited to be able to give you all a happy update! I started a new job yesterday! And while I won’t go into the details as I like to keep my work life separate from my personal life and my blogging life, I will say that it is within the field that I have been working in. It is some place that I think I can be proud to work at as well as a place that I can grow and learn new things.
I am fortunate get to work with a few familiar faces as there are several people working there that I have worked with previously, which will hopefully make for a smoother transition for me. And while some of the faces are familiar, the location definitely is not. I will actually be working downtown Detroit which is a first for me but something that I am excited about as there is a lot of growth and exciting things happening downtown right now!
It actually worked out perfectly that I started my new job this week as I had already planned to take this week off from running so I could recover from the Trail Half Marathon that I did on Saturday. I will be doing some other workouts, just not running this week. And while I am familiar with trying to integrate workouts into a work day, it has been a while since I have had to so hopefully this scaled down workout week will help ease the transition.
I am not the only one that has to adjust to my new job and schedule. B is obviously very much impacted by this change. He has enjoyed me not working as that meant I could take him to and from school but now that I am back to work he has to go to a before and after school program. He seems okay with it but I anticipate that there will be some struggles as we both adjust to the new schedule.
And lastly for those of you who haven’t seen our newest addition to our family from my posts on social media, we adopted a new fur baby a few weeks ago. This is Mowgli and he is a mini Goldendoodle!
I honestly think that Mowgli is going to have the hardest time out of all of us during this adjustment period. He hasn’t known anything else but me being home and didn’t enjoy being in his crate even for the short times that I was out of the house running errands. I would love to put him in a puppy daycare but they are just about the same cost as having B in daycare so that is probably not going to happen.
Overall I am very excited about the change and happy to be back to work again!
Any advice on how to ease the transition for all of us?
How do you fit your workouts in during the work week?
