This weekend was a special one. I normally don’t have B on the weekends during the school year but I got the okay from his Dad to keep him this past weekend. My eagerness to share the weekend with B (outside of my normal reasons to want to spend time with him) was because Fire Prevention Week kicked off this past weekend which meant that there were a ton of firefighter related activities for B and I to partake in.
B currently wants to be a firefighter when he grows up and he has felt this way for several years. He may change his mind or he may not. But either way I want to encourage his dreams of becoming a firefighter.
On Saturday we went to The Home Depot Kids Workshop. I’ve been wanting to take B to one for a long time but we just never got around to it. This month, the purpose of the workshop was to build a fire truck so I knew that we had to go!
And much to our surprise there was a fire truck, ambulance and a police car outside of the workshop for all of the kids to check out! B was so excited.
On Sunday we went to a fire station open house where B got to see fire trucks and ambulances again in addition to using a water hose and trying out the firefighter pole. There was even a surprise appearance by Spider-Man!
In between all of the firefighter activities I squeezed in a 3 mile run. Just me, myself, my running shoes and some fallen leaves. As much as I am not ready to say goodbye to summer, I can’t help but enjoy fall running.
How was your weekend?
What did you do?
