So this month’s Stitch Fix was a bit of an experiment. I changed up my style profile and even lied a bit to see if that would change the kind of pieces that I was sent. I dropped my age in my profile by 10 years, bringing my age to 26. (Ah, the good ole days.) And I unchecked the are you a mom box. (Sorry B, I still love you.)
The reason for the change is I have been feeling kind of meh about my fixes the last few months and I have been craving edgier / younger styles than what I have received. I’ve seen other stitch fixers altering their profile in this was and I thought it was worth a try!
In case you are not familiar with Stitch Fix, let me bring you up to speed. Stitch Fix is a monthly subscription service (although you don’t have to get one every month, you pick how often) that sends you clothes and accessories based on a style profile that you fill out. You can keep what you like and send back what you don’t. There is a $20 styling fee but if you keep any of the items, the $20 fee is deducted from the total purchase price of the item(s) you keep. If you keep all 5 of the items from your fix you receive a 25% discount on EVERYTHING. Basically it is like playing dress up as an adult…..and it is both fun and addicting! Every month you can also leave a note for your stylist. So if you have an event that you need some clothes for or if you just have an idea of what kind of pieces you want to add to your wardrobe you can pass that information along!
Here is the note I left for my stylist Diana this month.
Still would love to get the SAB Sailor Button Down or a similar shirt in red or blue. Other than that, I would love for you to send me items that you think are must have items for fall to build my fall wardrobe. Perhaps a great fall jacket!
I can’t seem to get that Sailor Button Down top out of my head. Did I get it this month? What pieces did Diana send as my fall must haves? Did the changes I made to my style profile result in a better fix? Let’s find out!
Item #1: Pixley Yuli Lace Cap Sleeve Blouse
What is not to love about this top? The lace, the cap sleeve, the zipper detail in the back, the quality and the fit all make this a must have for me!
It is very versatile too, as I can easily dress it up for work and dress it down for everyday wear!
Cost to Keep: $68.00
Item #2: Olive & Oak Tania Button Down Top
Unfortunately, yet again, the Sailor Button Down Top was not available but Diana sent this top as an alternate. I had high hopes for the top as I loved the colors.
But again, like last month, I just don’t like the top on me. Maybe I am just not a button down top kind of girl even though I think that I want one.
Cost to Keep: $64.00
Item #3: Papermoon Kualo Bow Back Knit Top
This top is so cute and comfy. I love the bow on the back.
Unfortunately there is just one little problem that I couldn’t get past. The stripes don’t line up on the sides. Womp Womp. For a $44 shirt, I expect the stripes to line up, so sadly this top had to go back.
Item #4: Alice Blue Casablanca Faux Suede Moto Jacket
Suede is very trendy right now and I love the look of a moto style jacket. And although I think that the jacket is very cute, I just felt like it wasn’t the jacket for me.
(P.S. Stop by my blog tomorrow. Turns out the perfect fall jacket for me was waiting elsewhere and now I am so happy I didn’t get this one. Sometimes you have to trust your gut.)
Cost to Keep: $78.00
Item #5: Level 99 Charly Zipper Coated Skinny Jean
I pinned these jeans on my style board on Pinterest not too long ago! I love that Diana pays attention to my Pinterest board and that she sent me these jeans as I love them just as much in person. They definitely cater to the edgy style that I have been after lately.
I also love that Diana recommended that I pair them with the other items I got from this fix to make a whole outfit! (I would have never thought to pair all of these items together but they totally work!)
Unfortunately the only way that I was going to be able to justify keeping them was if I kept all 5 items to get the 25% discount and as you already know, I didn’t keep 3 of the other items in this fix so these will have to go back too…..
Cost to Keep: $128.00
Although I only kept one item this fix I feel that this month’s fix was definitely more of what I am looking for. Diana absolutely captured my edgy / country / feminine style in the pieces that she sent me. Perhaps it was partly due to the changes I made to my style profile? It’s hard to say but I plan on leaving those changes as is and we will see what she send me next month!
