Christmas came early and it came in my Stitch Fix box sent by my very own Stitch Fix elf, Diana!
In case you are not familiar with Stitch Fix, let me bring you up to speed. Stitch Fix is a monthly subscription service (although you don’t have to get one every month, you pick how often) that sends you clothes and accessories based on a style profile that you fill out. You can keep what you like and send back what you don’t. There is a $20 styling fee but if you keep any of the items, the $20 fee is deducted from the total purchase price of the item(s) you keep. If you keep all 5 of the items from your fix you receive a 25% discount on EVERYTHING. Basically it is like playing dress up as an adult…..and it is both fun and addicting! Every month you can also leave a note for your stylist. So if you have an event that you need some clothes for or if you just have an idea of what kind of pieces you want to add to your wardrobe you can pass that information along!
This month I asked my stylist Diana for a dress to wear to holiday parties and a winter coat.
Ready to see what came in my early Christmas fix?
Item #1: Papermoon Etsie Dress
This month’s fix is full of great colors and the purple color of this Papermoon dress in amazing! I can definitely see why Diana sent this to me. Not only is the color something I love but the fit and flare shape of the dress is something I tend to gravitate towards as well.
Although it has been a mild winter here in the Detroit area so far (knocks on wood and hopes it stays that way), I would definitely be wearing this dress with tights until Spring. And probably a blazer or cardigan too depending on the occasion because I am always cold.
Unfortunately even though I do like this dress on me, I will not be keeping it because I do not think the dress warrants a $78.00 price tag. The dress is pretty thin and I think I could buy something more unique and of higher quality for the same price.
Cost to Keep: $78.00
Item #2: Urban Expressions Richie Asymmetrical Clutch
I can tell that Diana has been checking on my Pinterest board because this is an item that I pinned recently. I have several other Urban Expressions clutches and handbags and I have found them to be of high quality. This one is no exception!
The teal green color is beautiful and the inside lining is striped with more than enough room for my needs.
Diana suggested I pair this clutch with the Papermoon dress and they really look great together. Unfortunately the clutch is a bit too big for my needs and taste. I prefer smaller ones that are sized for a phone and a few other items. So although I love this clutch, I know that it would sit in my closet because its size doesn’t serve my needs well.
If you are a fan of the clutch Amazon has the black version for $34.95, click here to check it out!
Cost to Keep: $48
Item #3: Just Black Dean Skinny Jean
Another purple item?! Diana is the BEST.
These jeans are oh so soft and the zipper detailing is fabulous. They also fit me like and glove and since I do not have anything like them in my closet they will be a definite keep!
Cost to Keep: $78.00
Item #4: 19 Cooper Wyona Embellished Neckline Blouse
I didn’t think much of this top when I first pulled it out. I think because it isn’t warm winter attire, I was quick to dismiss it as something I wouldn’t like. And while it is obviously sleeveless and very sheer, I can see why Diana sent it to me.
The detailing at the neckline is very nice and I am a sucker for details. It also looks great with my purple skinny jeans and a pair of heels. It’s a very cute holiday look, if I do say so myself.
And while I like the top, I just can’t rationalize purchasing it at this time of the year. I may wear it for holiday parties but come January it would just sit in my closet as I would be reaching for long-sleeved items to keep me cozy and warm.
Cost to Keep: $58.00
Item #5: Coffeeshop Mayella Faux Fur Hood Trim Coat
Yay! I asked for a winter coat and Diana sent me one. I think this may be my first ever coat from Stitch Fix if my memory serves me correctly.
I love love love this coat. It can be used with casual attire or dressy attire and I love coats that can pull double duty like that. I also love the blue color and that it will go nicely with my Ugg Elsa boots that I scored on eBay last winter. The coat is more of a mid weight coat so it won’t work in very cold weather but it will certainly work in the weather that we are currently having.
Cost to Keep: $128.00
I am a little sad that this is my last fix of 2015 but I got two great items that help to soften the blow. And besides, I am sure there are even greater fixes awaiting me in 2016!
