Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve done a Tote review! My last review was in August of last year even though I did purchase a few more totes since then but unfortunately they were a miss for me so I sent them back. Hence no review. And there have been many months that the chosens didn’t appeal to me, so I didn’t partake in a Tote.
But it looks like my Tote drought has come to an end with this Valentine’s Tote. I couldn’t pass up the dresses Golden Tote had as chosens because as you know, my style goal for this month was to find some sexy date night outfits and they had many options that fit my goal.
Not familiar with Golden Tote? Golden Tote is similar to Stitch Fix but a little different. Golden Tote is a fashion service but you do not automatically receive a Tote each month. (And yes the items actually do arrive in a Tote!) Instead, Totes go on sale the first Monday of the month (the day is sometimes different) on the Golden Tote website. You can choose between either a small Tote for $49 which contains 2-3 items (you pick 1 of the items yourself) or a large Tote for $149 which contains 5-6 items (you pick 2 of the items yourself).
Like Stitch Fix you fill out your style profile on Golden Tote and that style profile will help your stylist select the surprise items that they send in your Tote!
Golden Tote also has a boutique so you can purchase items separately as well and there is discounted pricing for adding items on to your Tote order. Oh one more thing! The clothing available for the Totes typically changes every month. And since there is a limited supply, getting a Tote with your preferred item(s) feels pretty similar to signing up for a Disney race (of course I compare everything to running somehow). At least in my opinion!
My total this month was styled by KB and I know a lot of Goldies in the Golden Tote Trading group on Facebook are a big fan of KB so I was excited to see what she sent me. Let’s take a look!
Item #1: On The Sultry Side Dress
This is one of my chosen items and it was definitely a big reason as to why I got a tote this month. It’s a beautiful dress with great detailing and I don’t have anything like it in my closet.
The dress fit perfectly and it got the fiance’s approval but I am not sure when I will be able to wear it. It’s a bit dressy for a regular date night and we don’t have any special occasions coming up any time soon. I’m tempted to sell it so that it doesn’t just live in my closet but I think I will hang on to it for a little bit to see if I can’t find an excuse to wear it.
Item #2: True Romance Dress
This is my other chosen item and it also fits my style goal for the month. I love that it is form-fitting, I like the key hole back and I think the colors and print are great.
This dress is definitely me and I think I will wear it often. It can be dressed up or dressed down and with spring right around the corner, I am excited to start baring my legs again (despite that fact that they are blindingly white).
Item #3: Bo Bel Stripe Knit Dress
This is my first surprise item and I can definitely understand why KB sent it to me. Stripes are pretty popular right now and I did mention that I like dresses.
And while I do think the dress is cute, I don’t think I will reach for it often. I will probably post it for sale on the Golden Tote Facebook group.
Item #4: Lazy Sundays Striped Thermal
In the comments section of my profile I mentioned that I liked this thermal as I had been seeing it in other Goldies reveals and KB delivered!
It is oh so comfy and it makes for a great lounging around the house look. I will definitely wear this often.
Item #5: Collective Concepts Knit Cardigan
I had mixed opinions when I first saw this cardigan in my Tote. On the one hand it looked cute and cozy but on the other hand beige really isn’t a good color on me.
Despite the color not being the best, I do like the cardigan and I think it will be another item from this Tote that will be worn often. At least until the weather warms up!
Item #6: ReOrder Plaid Flannel with Hood
This is another item that I initially had mixed opinions about. I like the plaid but I wasn’t wild about the idea of it having a hood. I also don’t typically like shirts with pockets on the chest.
After trying it on, I still have mixed opinions. I am not 100% sold on it so if another Goldie is after it, I would be willing to part with it.
And there you have it! That was my Valentine’s Tote. And it is by far my favorite Tote that I have ever received! Now I understand why so many Goldies are Team KB, she’s awesome! I will definitely be requesting KB on any future Totes that I purchase.
