Shamrock Shuffle Goals & a BIG Announcement!

Before I get to my BIG announcement let’s get down to business about the Shamrock Shuffle 8k that I am racing in on Sunday in Chicago. Here are my goals for the race!

A Goal: Finish in 44:38 or less which is the time I got at the PoHo Hot Chocolate 8k in January!

B Goal: Maintain a 9:30 pace!

C Goal: Finish the race!

I would love to accomplish each of these goals but I am well aware that my A Goal is going to be a challenge especially with the size of this race. An implied goal with all of these goals is to have fun and enjoy the experience which I will do no matter what goal or goals I accomplish!

Now on to my BIG announcement!

The reason why I am even getting the opportunity to run the Shamrock Shuffle 8k and spend the weekend in Chicago is because I was selected to be an Ambassador for the Verizon Wireless Health & Fitness Blogger Program! {Insert happy dance here!} I am super excited and flattered to be a part of the program.

I love Verizon! They have been my cellphone provider since I got my first cellphone which feels like a loooong time ago. I will be telling you much more about this program in the near future but I have been bursting at the seams about this news and couldn’t wait another day to share it with you! :)

Anyone else racing this weekend? I want to hear about it! Do you love Verizon as much as I do? I want to hear about that too. Share your comments below!

Puppies vs Babies: It’s time to pick a side!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Puppies vs. Babies. All opinions are 100% mine.

You may think I only have 1 child, but really I have 5! (6 if you count the hubby.) If you follow my blog you may be confused because the only child I really talk about is my 3 year old son, Brennen. However, I thought it was time that I came clean and tell you that I first became a mom in 2001. In 2001, the hubby and I welcomed our first fur-baby into the family, a black tuxedo cat we named Mittens. (I had you going there for a minute, didn’t I?) About a year later we adopted a 2nd cat that we name Jaspurr. Once we felt we had mastered the art of cat parenting, we took the plunge and adopted our first dog in 2005. We named him Kodi after Kodiak Alaska as he is part husky. One year later, we adopted yet another dog (yes, we are slightly crazy) who we named Juno after Juneau Alaska. If you haven’t already guessed, we really love animals! They are not just pets to us, they are truly our kids!

Once we had Brennen, (our first and only non fur-baby) we had to shift our focus from being pet parents to being parents in the more traditional sense. And let’s be honest, it wasn’t hard to do! I might be biased but Brennen was and is pretty darn cute! I am not trying to say my fur-babies are not cute. I mean who doesn’t love a cute little puppy? But if I had to pick a side I would definitely have to choose my son!

How about you? Where do you fall in the epic Puppies vs. Babies battle? Which one tugs at your cute-meter more? Is it the babies or the puppies? Regardless of which side you fall on, you should head over to Animal Planets Puppies vs. Babies online contest so your voice can be heard! Your votes will decide if a puppy or a baby will receive the $5,000 prize! That’s right, $5,000!

I would love to hear what side you will be voting for! Feel free to leave a comment below and then head over to the  Puppies vs. Babies online contest to cast your vote! Voting ends on November 23rd, so what are you waiting for?

To Blog or Not to Blog?

That is the question I have been mulling over for the last couple of weeks after getting my first glimpse into the blogging world thru my friend’s blog.

Writing a blog seemed like a logical step for me to take, as I currently keep a journal for my son, Brennen. The added bonus of a blog is that Brennen won’t have to decipher my atrocious handwriting!

However, I was hesitant to start a blog because of its transparency. Let’s face it, I really haven’t written anything for others to critique since college. It’s been a long time since I have had to think of sentence structure and punctuation, let alone an audience. Did I really want to open myself up in that way?

After much deliberation and finally finding an available url (that’s another blog entry in itself), I have decided to venture into the blogging world. Please be gentle on me. :)
