pv.Body Update

Remember the post I wrote about pv.Body? Well, I figured it’s time to update you. Shortly after I wrote the post, I attempted to contact them again to rectify my issues. First I called them during normal business hours and got a voicemail. Instead of leaving a message, I emailed them again. I got a nice reply from one of their representatives and I was promised that I would receive a credit for the 20% off that I was owed and that my free shirt would be sent out asap! Well guess what? Both of those things happened! Woot!

I also received my second pv.Body shipment.

Both items are great!

Unfortunately, I have a bit of unsettling news to share about pv.Body. I have read posts from other bloggers who are pv.Body ambassadors, that in February they will no longer be partnering with different active wear brands. Instead they have developed their own line of fitness clothing called Ellie and that is what the pv.Body subscribers will be receiving in the mail! Click here to read one of the posts that I am referring to.

I am annoyed by this and here is why. 1) I thought the whole premise behind pv.Body was to bring you designer active wear for less money? 2) What happened to them partnering with Lululemon? 3) This Ellie line couldn’t possibly have been developed over night, so why are we just now finding out about it? 4) Why aren’t “regular” pv.body subscribers being notified about the change? I wouldn’t have known about this switch if I wasn’t an avid blog reader.

In some ways I am curious to see how all of this plays out. Who knows, maybe the Ellie line will be fantastic. But I’m not sure I am willing to continue being a subscriber just for curiosity’s sake.

What do you think about the pv.Body change? If you are a subscriber, will you continue to be?

A Summer Reminder

Look at what came in the mail!

IMAG0771

Do you know what this means?! It means that Summer isn’t very far away! It means I get to go through my yearly ritual of selecting a new swimsuit (Yes, I usually get a new one every year. I”m not sure why.) It means extra motivation to keep working out so I can look my best in said swimsuit. It means that warmth, sunshine and lazy days will soon be mine for the taking. It means more time outside with Little B. It means days at the pool and the splash pad will soon be the norm. It means less dirty clothes to wash. It means I will be listening to songs like “Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince (Yes, I’m old.) and Kid Rock’s “All Summer Long”. It means flip flops, tank tops and shorts will reappear. It means picnics in the park and trips to the playground. It means concerts with friends and sunsets at the beach. It means longer days and tanner skin. It means more slurpees and fewer hot chocolates. It means fireworks and sparklers. It means sunglasses and painted toe nails. And most of it all it means another Winter has passed!

What does Summer mean to you?

Black Jacket Obsession

If there is one thing that I do not need more of it is black jackets.

Take a look.

IMAG0737

Yep, that is a total of five black jackets hanging in my closet. Six if you count the one that is black and white.

What is wrong with me? I love color, really I do! I swear!  But for some reason when I buy a jacket, I am drawn to black. Black goes with anything. Every outfit, every pair of shoes, every purse, EVERYTHING! And black is classic. I should be able to wear most of those jackets for many years to come.

I have a black jacket for every occasion and every season. Oh, except a casual one for Winter activities like sledding and such. But don’t worry, I found a great deal on an awesome Burton jacket, in black of course and it will be headed my way soon. However, it is the last black jacket that I am going to buy! I think… I hope… Yeah, that’s probably not true. lol

What do you have too many of in your closet?

No nonsense & Winter Fashion

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of No nonsense. All opinions are 100% mine.

Winter can be a tricky time of year to be fashionable. If you live in a cold climate like I do, your main concern is just trying to keep warm. Thanks to No nonsense, I found a way to stay warm and fashionable!

No nonsense was nice enough to send me a pair of leggings and tights to try out and review. Would you believe that I have never worn legging or tights? Well not as an adult anyways, although I am sure my childhood was filled with them. In all honestly, I was a little skeptical about how I would feel about them. But it turns out that I LOVED both the tights and the leggings.

Take a look at the outfits I created with each of them.

First up is the tights. My work dresses and skirts have spent more time in my closet as of late than out of the closet thanks to old man Winter. But tights are a great way to be able to wear dresses and skirts all year-long.

IMAG0711

I loved the tights so much, that I wore them after work with this outfit.

IMAG0712

The leggings I received were actually jeggings! They were super fun and comfy!

IMAG0717

I had a great time trying out the No nonsense tights and leggings and I am sure you will too! They are a very affordable way to add some fashion to your winter wardrobe. You can find them at food and drug stores as well as large retail stores.

Make sure you follow No nonsense on Facebook and Twitter for promotions and fashion tips! You may even see some posts from Jill Martin, who is a fashion expert and tv personality, as she is now a brand ambassador for No nonsense!

pv.Body Review

If you read any other fitness blogs I am sure you have already seen a few reviews about pv.Body. But in case you haven’t, or if you just want to hear my two cents about it, I figured I would write one too. Mostly because I think it is an awesome idea!

I first learned of pv.Body through a blog post by Athlete in Me. For a monthly fee of $49.95 (I was lucky enough to sign up before the price increase. Word on the street is they increased the price because they will be getting Lululemon!) they will send you a 2 piece fitness outfit! In many ways pv.Body is like the other monthly fitness subscriptions that you can sign up for. Like all the others you sign up and wait patiently for your package to arrive.

Pretty in pink!

Pretty in pink!

What sets pv.Body apart from all the other subscription services is the value and customization that is included with the subscription. When you sign up for pv.Body you take a style quiz so they can send you items that are perfect for you. When I took the quiz I was deemed an “epic athlete” – sounds good to me!

And here is what I got!

013

017

The top is a spin tee from Electric Yoga which retails for $69 and the leggings are from Nux which retail for $59. I got both for $39.95!! Now that is a great value! Both are very comfortable, stylish and perfect for my workouts. They both fit me perfectly but I am happy to know if something doesn’t, I can exchange it!

I am very happy with the clothes I got and plan to keep my subscription, however, I do have to mention that I think the demand for pv.Body is growing more rapidly than they can currently keep up with it. When I placed my order I used a 20% off code and for some reason the code didn’t take and I did not receive the discount. I contacted pv.Body by email on December 1st and I still have not heard back from them nor have I received a refund. It also took quite awhile to get my package after I ordered it and I have heard the same complaint from others. I also have not yet received my free t-shirt that was included for signing up.

The bottom line is I think pv.Body is a great concept and I am willing to wait a little while for them to work out the kinks.

I am looking forward to my next package!

Do you have a subscription to pv.Body? What do you think of it? If you don’t, have you thought about signing up?

Fab Find Friday | Fall Boots

I love Summer. The heat, the sun, the longer days, the relaxed way of living, etc etc. I love all of it. Fall is okay but it is the gateway to Winter which I am not a fan of. So perhaps because of that, Fall gets a bad rap with me. There is one thing that makes me feel a little better about Fall though…..

A killer pair of boots, of course!

Aren’t those boots fantastic?! These will definitely help ease the pain of transitioning to cooler weather!

These boots were my first purchase from ShoeDazzle and I am very happy with them! It’s hard to find good quality boots and shoes at reasonable prices but ShoeDazzle definitely delivered! Another great part of ShoeDazzle is that every month I get a showroom of shoes personalized just for me AND they always have awesome specials every month in addition to their already great prices. Click to get your own customized showroom of shoes and more!

Now I want to hear from you! Are you a boots lover? Have you purchased anything from ShoeDazzle?

Fab Find Friday | Ahnu Footwear

On my trip to San Francisco, I did something I have never done before. I packed everything into a carry-on! If you are a woman or know a woman, you know how big of a deal this is! The hardest part for me was deciding what shoes to bring. I of course, needed to bring my running shoes but I also needed another pair of shoes that were cute, stylish and comfy to wear when I wasn’t running.

So what shoes made the cut?

My Ahnu Karma shoes!

Sure they look cute in the box, but wait till you see how cute they look on!

Don’t you just love them?  Without question, they are my favorite pair of non-running shoes! What you can’t see in that pic, is how comfy they are! I am sure you all remember the endless amounts of sight-seeing I did in San Francisco and these shoes did not let me down. I wore them EVERYWHERE and my feet were always happy. The Ahnu Karma shoes are really the perfect pair of travel shoes. I love that I could just slip them on and off at the airport. They made security a breeze!

I also love that they have an antimicrobial treatment in the liner, so going sockless doesn’t mean having smelly shoes. Not to mention, the sole of the Karmas is only 4mm which is another plus for me. Ever since I switched over to a minimalist running shoe, I find that casual shoes that have a large heel drop are uncomfortable to me.

And although the San Fran trip is now a thing of the past, my Ahnu Karmas are definitely an item of the present! They are my go-to commute to work shoe and my go-with-everything casual shoe. I highly recommend that you check them out for yourself or any of the other items that Ahnu offers! You can find Ahnu on Facebook, Twitter and on their own website.

Full Disclosure: I was given a pair of Ahnu Karma shoes to review. However, all opinions are my own and the affection I feel toward them is genuine!

My Favorite Running Shorts

I have done what many runners only dream of! I have found THE perfect pair of running shorts.

With that being said it should be noted that the journey to finding my perfect pair of running shorts was a long and frustrating one but worth every wrong pair of shorts that I tried. And trust me, I have tried many.

Here are just a few that I have tried.

Some shorts were too long, too short, uncomfortable in the waist, rode up in the leg, rode up in the waist, didn’t conceal sweat, had too much fabric, didn’t have enough fabric…. I think you get the idea.

And then these shorts entered my life. And everything changed for the better. Well my running changed for the better anyways. I guess I can’t expect a great pair of running shorts to change my WHOLE life.

Nike Pro Core Compression Shorts

I am partial to fitted running shorts. I can’t stand lose shorts with all the extra material that has nothing to do but annoy me while I am running. However, the main issue with fitted running shorts it the whole riding up the leg thing that is equally annoying. Who wants to keep pulling the legs of their shorts down during a run? Not this girl!

These shorts have minimal riding in the legs if any and no riding anywhere else for that matter. The waistband is fantastically comfy. I love that I can even fold it over if I wish and it stays put! And in true Nike fashion the material is moisture wicking which is a must in my opinion and helps conceal the inevitable sweat that comes from a good run or workout.

Did I mention that I  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these shorts!!! :)

What are some of your favorite running / workout gear?

Running Shoes

Well….. In all honesty I wear running shoes and heels and lots more! What can I say, I love shoes!

Currently I have four pairs of running shoes in my closet. Two pairs of Asics Gel-Cumulus and two pairs of Brooks Pure Cadence.

My Asics!

My Brooks!

When I started becoming a more “serious” runner I was running in Nike’s. As my miles increased it became evident that the Nike’s I ran in were not right for me, so a stop at my local running me store landed me in a pair of Asics Gel-Cumulus 12. I ran in that model for well over a year before I became curious about running in a more minimalist shoe. That is when I took the plunge and bought a pair of Brooks Pure Cadence shoes. I loved how lightweight they were and how much more I could feel the surface I was running on compared to running in the Asics. However, I was too impatient to scale back my running and adjust to running in the Pure Cadence so eventually I stopped wearing them. BUT…. I have recently made the full transition to my Pure Cadence shoes and I just love them.

And although I love my Brooks shoes, that doesn’t stop me from ogling and lusting over other running shoes. The ones that have been piquing my interest lately are Newton running shoes. They are very different from other running shoes as they have more cushioning in the forefront of the shoe to help promote landing on the forefront of your foot as opposed to your heel. And they come in super awesome bright colors! I love a brightly colored running shoe. Who wants to blend in with the crowd?

Aren’t these awesome looking?

Check out this recent article from Runner’s World to learn more about the Newton running shoes!

So what’s stopping me from trying out a pair of Newton’s??? The hefty price tag. The ones pictured above are $155!

Have your tried out a pair of Newton running shoes? If so, what do you think? If not, what are your favorite pair of running shoes?

Fab Find Friday: My Fav Workout Shirt

Do you remember the reason why I started this series? I think it was because I was feeling like I blogged about running and fitness too often. Let’s pretend that I never said that, ok? Because this post IS running and fitness related! Sometimes I just can’t help myself!

So what is the next best thing to talking about running and working out? Talking about workout clothes, of course! And right now, my favorite workout tops come from a company called ViewSPORT! You may remember that I blogged about ViewSport before. And as much as I liked my first shirt from them, I LOVE their new shirts.

See what I mean! They are super cute, just the right length, have an awesome saying on the front and of course a sweat activated message on the back.

What more is there to say?

I many need to get a second job just to support my ViewSPORT addiction as I currently have my eyes on these two tanks.

Don’t these tanks make you want to go workout? If you don’t have your very own ViewSPORT shirt, you def should. Head on over to their website and tell them I sent you. Maybe I can coerce them into sponsoring me so I don’t have to get a second job! ;) Hey a girl, can wish right?

What workout clothes are you in love with right now?
